MEET THE TEAM
Founder & Grant Consultant
Melissa Vo specializes in institutional fundraising and has a record of success securing six-figure philanthropic support from corporations and foundations for social good. She started her career in New York City developing humanitarian support for Tibetan refugees. Currently, she is working towards achieving the philanthropic revenue goals for organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area, Philadelphia and New York City. Melissa earned a BA in World Literature and Cultural Studies from UC Santa Cruz, completed a three-year meditation certification program, and is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Silicon Valley Chapter.
Grant Research Associate
Ekin Gunaysu has worked in a number of projects sponsored by international non-governmental organizations in areas of human rights, refugee support and climate change mitigation. Previous to joining Good Cause Group, she worked on a World-Bank sponsored Project and organized stakeholder workshops on carbon pricing mechanisms and supported the successful implementation of the program on climate change mitigation. Ekin earned her Bachelor Degree in Political Science from Wintrop University, USA and her Master Degree in European Studies from Leuven University, Belgium. She is currently earning an international diploma in Business Administration and Project Management in UC Berkeley.
Jay Cabrera is a social entrepreneur who has launched social good projects for more than a decade in the San Francisco Bay Area. Jay provides legal, administrative, and fiscal sponsorship services to early-stage projects that positively impact their communities and build a better world. He is committed to serving the public interest on both committees and boards, and has experience running for City Council. Currently, Jay is the legal architect and designer of distributed legal infrastructures with the Economic Space Agency.
Grant Partnerships Manager
Sebnem Pala started her career working for the European Union’s financial institution, European Investment Bank on projects relating to renewable energy, water, and human capital in Luxembourg. She also worked with a United Nations agency to create rural development projects for Kenya. Sebnem earned a MA in International Political Economy from the University of Warwick, MA in Development Studies from Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, BA in English Language and Literature from Ege University, and an Associate's Public Relations and Publicity from Anadolu University. Sebnem is currently earning a professional diploma in Management and Business at UC Berkeley.
Rafael Borja is committed to educational equity for underserved communities. He attended the Nonprofit Executive Program at the University of Notre Dame, Mendoza College of Business where he earned a certification in Executive Grant Proposal Writing, Transformational Nonprofits, and Executive Nonprofit Fundraising Strategies. Rafael is the Executive Director and Founder of Education Benevolence Foundation, a nonprofit that awards scholarships to at-economically disadvantaged students for educational support at accredited learning centers.
Julya Collins is passionate about building organizational capacity to maximize data-driven social impact. In her previous role at Friends for Youth Inc. in Silicon Valley, she successfully managed crowd funding campaigns, organized fundraising events, and conducted grants research to support the mentoring agency's fund development goals. Julya earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Hult International Business School.
