At Good Cause Group, Sebnem Tugce Pala facilitates strategic partnerships and conducts research for social causes focused on public policy, technology, and innovation. Sebnem started her career working for the European Union’s non-profit lending institution, European Investment Bank on projects relating to renewable energy, water, and human capital in Luxembourg. She also worked with a United Nations agency to create a rural development case study in Kenya at the International Labor Organization in Switzerland.
In addition to her research work with Good Cause Group, Sebnem also conducts policy research at UC Berkeley on sustainable transportation policy at the Transportation Sustainability Research Center (TSRC) and works on the public policy team at AmpUp, a tech startup that builds peer to peer networks for electric vehicles and charging technology solutions. Her recent professional experience includes serving on the policy initiatives team of Spin Electric Scooters (Ford Mobility) and working with the public policy and regulatory affairs team at Iris Automation, a top 100 artificial intelligence startup.
A lifelong learner, Sebnem holds multiple multiple degrees. She earned a Master's degree in International Political Economy from the University of Warwick and a second Master's degree in Development Studies from Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Switzerland. She earned her Associate's degree in Public Relations and Publicity from Anadolu University and a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from Ege University. In 2020, she completed a Professional Diploma Program in Business Administration and Project Management at UC Berkeley.
Sebnem hopes to utilize her public policy experience to make an impact in the field of sustainable transportation. Her interests include transportation electrification, micromobility, microtransit, shared mobility, autonomous vehicles, unmanned aircraft systems, and urban air mobility. Sebnem has lived in six countries and she speaks seven languages. In her free time, Sebnem likes learning new languages, traveling, practicing yoga and meditation, and playing with clay.
